No one in the history of spanking art, or any other genre come to that, can capture the essence and excitement of a scene and its subjects quite as well as Paula Meadows. Her drawings move in stasis, relating much more than the mere thousand words attributed to most pictures, and the faces she portrays, often her own, broadcast the deep emotions felt by the participants in these spankophiles’ wet dreams she brings to life. And not only can she draw what we lesser mortals can only imagine and only on our best days, but she modeled and acted the same sort of squirmy scenarios before still and movie cameras for Janus and Februs magazines, and also lived the role, no doubt even more fully and kinkily than ever recorded, according to her statement on the page below.

So in addition to being a seriously talented artist, she’s also quite an adorable spankee, both before an audience and in real life. And not for nothing but Paula’s signature boy-short hair pushes a very specific and very hot button with me. Anyone who knows what’s what around this blog will have no problem saying why. Paula often draws her own likeness in the most salacious and vulnerable positions, as shown by the next drawing, and naturally I recognize her – but I believe she, you, and a certain kitty-eyed princess will forgive me if I automatically adjust Paula’s visage in my mind’s eye to match one I like even better.

Although I read quite a few Janus magazines, and even visited their shop in London many, MANY years ago, I don’t recall Paula’s art, or recall its having a big impression on me until relatively recently. Perhaps I never saw the right issues, or the particular number that contained the following picture, but once I found it online, quite some time after I wrote the first stories in the A Maid for All Seasons series, I was sure that either Paula had subliminally influenced me to create Lisa, the young blonde maid who can’t keep her cute little bottom out of trouble, or else I had actually seen the drawing and forgotten about it but was subconsciously influenced by it. More likely neither is the case, especially since this girl’s name is Flossie and her face isn’t at all the way I see and describe Lisa, but this image isn’t a bad representation of the attitude and ambience in the Maid books.

Since I discovered Paula’s work, and yes, paid it the attention it deserves, I’ve wanted more than anything for her to illustrate my books, or at least draw the covers, but I doubt that ever will happen. Still, this next one captures the atmosphere at Red Blossom College, if not the detail. But if Paula could give the old guy more hair and a slightly less dour demeanor he might pass for Prof. Travis – if she also would replace the cane with a leather sole or maybe that nasty wooden paddle the RBC girls hate so much.

And as long as I’m making a wish list, we could really use a good mediaeval illustration for ‘Lady Faulcon’s Rogue,’ and the following picture comes fairly close. Paula just has to change the costuming a bit, get rid of the executioner’s Thanksgiving motif in favor of a tunic and joined-hose, and there we are. Okay, there’s no village square birching in the book, but in the unlikely event I get Paula on board I’ll flipping well write one for the new edition. (No, Georgia, not a public birching of Bess. Maybe of that plump little kitchen maid who was fooling around with Gilbert in the hayloft. Hm? WHY? Don’t bother me with details. I’m brainstorming.)

This final Paula opus is my favorite of hers, though not by a wide margin since nearly all her work is a favorite of mine in some way. But the mass spanking of nubile feminine bottoms fascinates me, and I’m not alone in that. I can just hear the giddy chortling while the Python troupe wrote the (almost) spanking of a few dozen hot young nuns in ‘Holy Grail,’ which I rewrote as ‘Endover’ in “Uncle Devlin’s Bedtime Stories.” But long before ‘Endover’ I created a stage skit in Maid Volume 2, wherein an entire girls’ volleyball team is paddled bare for the edification of the audience at a fictional, stylized, and highly improbable B&D club in Chicago. It’s a clean, well-lighted place, though, and when I win the lottery I’m going to open one exactly like it, probably on the outskirts of Las Vegas.
But back to Paula’s drawing, there really should be a guy wielding that whatever-it-is – rubber hose? – and the whatever-it-is really ought to be a leather paddle or maybe a tawse. Other than that this drawing would be a perfect cover illustration for the next edition of Volume 2. Now I just need to figure out whether to rewrite the skit as two girls’ teams, or ask Paula to delete six or seven figures. She and I will work it out, I’m sure, maybe over a hot dinner, or better yet, over a hot, seriously artistic tushy. I wish.

Totally agree with all you say about Paula, Dev. She’s undoubtedly one of the finest of all spanking artists; there’s a sensuality, a warmth and a sly humour about her work that I love and deeply admire. (To illustrate what I mean about ‘sly humour’, check out the expression, and the desperately crossed arms and legs, of the girl on the right in the school caning pic, fourth down.)
She’s also a charming lady to meet and (yes, I’m proud to say I’ve had the privilege) a delight to spank. And she’s even illustrated one or two of my stories, such as ‘Room Service’, which first appeared in Februs when she was editing it. I’d post one of the drawings here, but I’m not sure how to.
Yes, Phil, one of a kind and they broke the mold.
If you’d like to send me the picture you wanted to show I’ll be sure to include it in my next rhapsody about Paula, which is overdue anyhow.
Paula Meadows spanking drawings are one of a kind. They depict so erotically perfect the spanking scene,. The school assembly scene, where the headmaster is caning painfully one naughty girl on her bare bottom, while another girl is awaiting the same fate.
On the Puritan spanking scene, Paula Meadows depicts a naughty woman who was caught swearing in church on
Sunday. Heavens for bid. So she is sentenced to the whipping post for a good birching on her bare bottom. 25 strokes of the birch she was painfully given.
Great drawings!
You know it sucks, because I draw comic strips, and I´d like to draw spanking comics on my blog. But I have a very original style and then I would get caught for living this weird life-style, and that wouldn´t be okay :-/
Maybe one day…

Maria
A drawing style is as unique as a signature, so I expect you really wouldn’t want that on the internet with a big ‘I’m a spanko!’ sign on it. It’s a pity though.
Yes.
A pity indeed

Yes, it is a pity, Maria, as I would love to see your work but totally understand about your privacy.
Who knows, maybe one day world will be more open-minded or I get braver or it will happen, that I will have absolutely nothing to lose anymore

I contacted Paula the other day, to ask if she’d like to illustrate a story I’m writing for Eve Howard of Shadow Lane. But alas, Paula tells me she’s decided to retire from the scene, both as an artist and as a player. A doubly sad loss.
It is sad, Phil. I found that out when I asked the same thing for a reissue book cover a while back, but I went ahead and used one of her early ones.
